So, I was p.o.ed enough already after seeing how our elected officials are pandering to the wastrels in our society, and THEN I found an article this morning on an Extreme Home Makeover case. Argggghhhh!
I used to think that Habitat for Humanity was a worthwhile organization. It married those who wanted to contribute to those who needed a helping hand. Even with the involvement of the dispicable Jimmah Cartah, it seemed like a great idea. However, after seeing the aftermath – the rate of default, the conditions that many of those home devolved into, and the attitudes of those getting all this charity, I changed my mind. Completely. Bad thing!
Ok, so now we have the kegislation of these United States deciding they need to bail mortgage companies out of a mess THEY created with their stupid policies … in forcing the mortgage companies to give loans to wastrels that had bad credit or no credit. Great Idea, Uncle Sam. By all means, let the folks like us, that bought houses we could afford, and that make our payments and pay our taxes and live within our friggin’ means, help out the damned jackasses and wastrels that bought mansions on a McDonalds salary. What a great idea. Lets continue the education of the American public that being a total loser is an acceptable thing, and the government will always steal from others to recue them. Heck, why budget? Why deprive yourself of anything? As long as the evil bank will give you a credit card and a mortgage – why not run up your debt to third world nation levels? It’s not like you actually plan to pay it off. Or like you’ll have to pay it off. John Q. Public will do that for you … enjoy yourself. Gahhhhh!
So this morning I see the news on the results of one of those charitible undertakings that used the reality show concept to make it “newsworthy” – Extreme Home Makeover. I have to admit that I’ve never watched any of those shows, of course, but I have a pretty good inkling of what it is, since they spend more time advertising the shows than they do beaming the actual shows. In Clayton County, Georgia, back in 2005, they built a new home for a “deserving family”.
Lake City mayor Willie Oswalt was among the 1,800 volunteers helping “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” build the Harper’s new home 3 ½ years ago. Beazer Homes of Atlanta was the main sponsor. The mayor said he is baffled.
“Beazer gave them $100,000 cash, paid their mortgage off and they still can’t make it,” said Oswalt.
They get the house for free and then take out a $450,000 second mortgage on it. Big friggin’ surprise. Deserving famil, indeed.
